PACKAGE TOUR CHICLAYO – TRUJILLO (3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS)
Private Services only Day 1 Lima – Trujillo In the morning, reception at the Trujillo airport and transfer to selected hotel. Accommodation. Continue with a guided city tour of Trujillo which includes the Main Square, the Cathedral with its famous paintings of the Quito School, the Church and Monastery of El Carmen, which was the city’s most interesting religious architectural complex, the colonial mansions of “Casa Iturregui”, “Casa Bracamonte” (presently housing the Banco Central Hipotecario) and the Archaeological Museum of Jose Cassinelli, where a beautiful collection of Chavin, Mochica and Chimu ceramics, metals and fabrics can be seen.
In the afternoon, guided visit of the metropolis of Chan-Chan, the ancient capital of the Chimu Empire. It is the largest pre-Columbian city in South America, built entirely of mud and adobe bricks. Continue with the visit to the Temples of the Sun and of the Moon. This monumental group of adobe pyramids is more than 18 metres / 60 feet high, dating from the Mochica period (4th to 10th century) and is a compulsory visit in Trujillo. According to tradition, the Huaca del Sol (Sun Pyramid Temple) the largest pre-Columbian building in Peru, is made of several million adobe-bricks, and it is supposed to have been built in only three days.
Day 2 Trujillo – Chiclayo Breakfast. Departure by local bus to Chiclayo (3 hours).
Arrival in Chiclayo and accommodation at selected hotel.
Guided visit to the Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum, where the remains of the Lord of Sipán as well as around 800 pieces of gold and copper ornaments and textiles are on exhibit since the official opening in November 8, 2002. On three floors are displayed not only the jewels and the remains of the Lord of Sipán but also replicas of the tombs found in Huaca Rajada. In the rear of the Museum, the descendants of the Moche culture can be seen while they work with the same materials and the same techniques as their ancestors. This area is named “The Handicrafts’ Village”, and their homes are constructed as the ateliers of the ancient Moches.
Overnight.
Day 3 Chiclayo – Lima
Breakfast. In the morning visit to the adobe pyramid temples of Tucume, located 40 Km/25 miles North of Chiclayo. From one of the scenic points you can identify the remains of at least five temples.
Continue to visit the National Museum of Sicán, opened last year, where you will find around 200 pieces of gold and one hundred ceramics belonging to the Lambayeque Culture. Sicán was the most important religious centre of the north of Peru. Here you can appreciate the development of history of this culture between 700 and 1375 years A.D. Continue to the Sipán pyramid, a religious centre where the tomb of the Lord of Sipán was found.
In the afternoon return to Chiclayo and transfer to the airport.
