
City Tour (3 Hours)
Visit to the Main Square, the Cathedral with its splendid 17th century facade of sculptured volcanic rock, the Church of San Francisco, with its Chapel consecrated to the "Virgen de los Dolores", the Church of Belen, an architectural baroque complex dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Then continue to "Cerro Santa Apolonia", where you will have a magnificent panoramic view of the city and its surroundings and finally the Ransom Room where the last Inca was held prisoner.
Necropolis of Otuzco and Thermal Springs (4 Hours)
The Necropolis of Otuzco consists of a series of crypts or niches cut at several levels into the side of a cliff by the valley's pre-Inca inhabitants. The tour also includes a visit to the lush surroundings of Cajamarca and a stop at a dairy farm. The tour finishes with a visit to the Thermal Springs or "Baños del Inca" where Atahualpa was camping when Pizarro arrived in 1532.
Cumbemayo (5 hours)
To the south west of the city, at an altitude of 3,500 metres/10,600 feet, you will find a group of geological formations and first rate archaeological sites, including spectacular rock formations ("Los Frailones"). Visit the pre-Inca aqueduct, cut into the rock, unique in South America, a rock sanctuary in the shape of a human head preceded by a staircase carved in the stone, petroglyphs and many neighbouring grottoes and boulders.
