ECO 401
LIMA – PARACAS – LIMA (4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS)

Day 1 LIMA
Arrival in Lima. Reception and transfer to hotel.
Afternoon visit to the Museum of Natural History of Universidad de San Marcos, and to the Anthropological and Archaeological Museum, which has excellent collections of ceramics, textiles and mummies from the Chavin, Mochica, Chimú and Nazca Cultures and from Inca places.
Late afternoon conference on ecotourism in Peru by a natural wildlife specialist.

Day 2 LIMA – PARACAS
Early departure by private car or bus to Paracas at 250 km (156 miles) south of Lima and approximately 4 ½ hours drive, stopping at the Villa Marshes, 20 km (12 miles) to the south of Lima. The variety of birds is amazing, more than 100 species of birds at this natural reserve. Here you can see species such as Wren-Like Rushbira and many coloured Rush-Tyrant. We continue to Paracas, a bay located in one of the most desertic parts of the Peruvian coast. It is an important stop for birdwatchers because of its 215 species of birds which one can observe, according to the time of the year, 63 species migrating from the north from such distant points as the Arctic Circle, 6 species from the Galapagos Islands and 34 species from the Fire Land, Patagonia and other points of the south. From the Peruvian highlands arrive the Andean Condor (Vultur Gryphus). You may also see the Humboldt Penguin, and Wilson’s and White–vented Storm-Petrels. The trip will allow close looks at marine mammals and large numbers of boobies, pelicans and cormorants. Other birds you may see include
Humboldt Penguin, and Wilson’s and White–vented Storm-Petrels.
Afternoon visit to the Peninsula of Paracas and return to hotel.

Day 3 PARACAS – NAZCA
Morning departure south by private car or bus to Nazca at 210 km (131 miles) and approximately 3 hours drive and to the San Juan Peninsula (two hours’ drive) a Sea Lion Reserve sustained by the Geographical Society of New York. Registration at the hotel at the end of the day and overnight.

Day 4 NAZCA – LIMA
In the morning possibility of flying over the gigantic desert drawings, the Nazca Lines.
In the afternoon return by bus or private car to Lima (444 km / 278 miles), approximately 6 hours’ drive and transfer to the selected hotel.
