MUYUNA
AMAZON LODGE
The Muyuna Amazon Lodge is located in the Yanayacu river bank, 135 km. / 83 mi. southeast and three hours by speedboat from Iquitos. The farther it is from civilization, the better the possibilities to observe nature.
The Muyuna Lodge is one hour by boat from the Pacaya – Samiria National Reserve, the largest reserve in Peru – 2.8 million hectares and very rich in plant and animal life – where it is possible to observe animals in their own habitat. No constructions are permitted there, and visits are restricted to persons complying with strict regulations to protect its flora and fauna.
The lodge can receive up to 40 persons in a mixture of two, three, four or six-bed bungalows. Each bungalow has a private bathroom and comfortable beds. The illumination is made by the use of kerosene lamps, and each bungalow is protected by a mosquito net and has a terrace with its own hammock facing the river, where dolphins as well as fish can be seen in the river's flood times.
San Juan de Yanayacu, a small village close to the lodge can be visited to learn about their costumes and have a culture interchange, trying to make this visit from our part as spontaneous as possible, as is the attitude and lifestyle of the villagers.
