Reserva Amazónica is a private ecological reserve and research center in Tambopata, in the Amazon rainforest.
Formerly known as Cusco Amazónico Pueblo Hotel, Reserva Amazónica is an ecolodge which has worked for over 25 years to provide ecotourism services and to promote the sustainable development of the Amazon region. Key features of Reserva Amazónica include the following:
Reserva Amazónica is an hour’s boat ride from the City of Puerto Maldonado and 25 minutes by commercial airline from Cusco.
The reserve covers 10,000 hectares of protected rainforest.
Reserva Amazónica possesses world records in biodiversity and new species of flora and fauna, which have been discovered by world-renowned scientists and researchers.
The lodge has 41 ample renovated cabins, which assure guests’ comfort and safety.
Reserva Amazónica offers guests a variety of eco-activities to learn about the majestic rainforest, such as catamaran trips, walks through the private reserve and excursions on Sandoval Lake.
Reserva Amazónica implements different projects to research and protect Amazon flora and fauna species, in coordination with institutions from Peru and abroad.
Day 1 Puerto Maldonado – Reserva Amazonica (lunch and dinner) Upon arrival to Puerto Maldonado reception and transfer to the river port for motorized motorboat trip to Reserva Amazónica.
Arrival in the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, walk through the rainforest and visit to the medicinal plant (more than 200 native species) and orchid garden. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2 Reserva Amazonica (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
Buffet breakfast
Trip down Madre de Dios River by motorboat. Thirty minute walk to Sandoval Lake. Boat ride on the lake to observe the wealth of flora and fauna. Swimming in the lake and a visit to the legendary Fitzcarrald ship. Participants will see a variety of fauna (widgeon, cranes and macaws) and flora (seiba and schihuahuaco trees).
Return to the lodge for lunch. Boat trip to the Monkey Island (Isla Rolín), a recovery center where guests can view different types of primates in the process of readapting to their natural environment.
Visit to a settler’s plot where guests can become familiar with the variety of Amazon crops grown.
On the way back to the lodge, observation of caimans on the shores of the Madre de Dios river. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3 Reserva Amazonica – Puerto Maldonado – Lima (breakfast)
Buffet breakfast
Transfer by motorboat to Puerto Maldonado and to the airport for departure by plane to Lima or Cuzco.
